Bentley Sweven: Private Screening Of Latest Short

Filmmaker Bentley Sweven recently welcomed a select group of community leaders, collaborators, and supporters to a private screening of his latest short film, Between Fire and Freedom.

Recently selected for the 2026 Roxbury International Film Festival, the film explores the lasting impact of historical inequities and the challenges that continue to shape communities today. Through a powerful blend of history, imagination, and lived experience, Between Fire and Freedom invites audiences to reflect on the past while envisioning a more hopeful future.

Among the evening's guests was Catherine Morris, Founder and Executive Director of BAMS Fest and Executive Producer of the film, whose vision and leadership helped bring the project to life. The screening was followed by an engaging Q&A session filled with thoughtful conversation, genuine laughter, and reflections on the themes that inspired the work.

More than a film screening, the gathering served as a celebration of community, storytelling, and the power of art to bridge generations—offering attendees a glimpse into both where we've been and where we're headed.
