Bentley Sweven & Ralph Tresvant
The rare sight of uncle and nephew together in Boston came on the heels of a citywide celebration for New Edition Day. Fresh off a day filled with music, history, and community pride, their moment captured the spirit of what the event is all about — family, legacy, and culture coming full circle in the heart of Boston.

NEW EDITION DAY
On August 30th, Boston honored hometown legends New Edition with the annual celebration of New Edition Day. First declared by Mayor Michelle Wu in 2025, the day recognizes the group’s cultural impact and lasting legacy.
This year’s festivities included a lively block party, community events, and the renaming of Dearborn Street to “New Edition Way” in Roxbury, where the group’s story began.
For Bentley Sweven, joining the celebration was about more than music — it was about honoring a legacy of creativity, resilience, and pride that continues to inspire Boston and beyond.
