BLACK PANTHER PARTY

Hidden in plain sight in Oakland, California, filmmaker Bentley Sweven visited the historic Black Panther Party Museum and had the honor of meeting Fredrika Newton, a steward of the movement's enduring legacy.

Dedicated to preserving the history, principles, and impact of the Black Panther Party, the museum offers an immersive experience unlike any other. Every exhibit, photograph, artifact, and wall tells a story—bringing visitors face-to-face with the people, ideas, and sacrifices that helped shape a generation of activism and community empowerment.

For those traveling to the West Coast, the museum stands as a powerful and educational destination, offering a deeper understanding of one of the most influential social justice movements in American history. More than a museum, it is a living reminder of the importance of courage, community, and the ongoing pursuit of freedom and equity.
